PCCI Releases 2026 Annual Impact Report Demonstrating Impact of AI-Driven Programs On Millions Of Texans

01/22/2026

Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation (PCCI) has released its 2026 Annual Impact Report. This report highlights PCCI’s work over the past year in continuing to develop and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions that integrate clinical data with social determinants of health.  With over a dozen years of pioneering innovation in clinical and population health AI, PCCI has established itself as a leader in responsible, impactful applications of AI for vulnerable individuals and communities.

A digital version of the annual report is available HERE, or you can order a free hard copy by emailing PCCI at info@pccinnovation.org.

This impact report highlights how PCCI is delivering important and critical support, based on AI-driven programs, which have positively impacted the most vulnerable across our communities.  Overall, PCCI has deployed 19 AI-based models.  These models have generated nearly 35 million AI-driven predictions, engaged more than 6.2 million patients, and identified 2.8 million residents as being high-risk just over the last 6 years.

The report also shows that PCCI’s AI-driven initiatives deliver life-changing results. For example, PCCI’s Preterm Birth Prevention program reduced preterm birth rates by 18 percent among at-risk mothers, meaning more babies born full term. Additionally, we’ve seen a 44 percent drop in inpatient admissions and altogether the preterm birth prevention program generates more than $8.2 million in annual savings. Those results go beyond just numbers and are bringing joy to families by helping mothers avoid preterm birth, the primary driver of infant mortality.

Additionally, beginning in 2026, PCCI is expanding its AI expertise in supporting maternal health across North Texas through the Maternal Health Accelerator, in partnership with TCU, UTSW and over a dozen regional health systems, payers, and community programs. The impact in reducing severe obstetric complications (SOC) is meaningful, and I’m proud that we are able to bring our experience and advanced AI knowledge to support this partnership.

Likewise, our digital imaging surveillance system leverages cutting-edge generative AI methods to identify missed diagnoses for follow up to save lives. The impact to date is exceptional:  PCCI’s AI-model’s accuracy is 98.1 percent. This identifies more than 49,500 annual follow ups (including new imaging studies) and offers a reduction of more than 38,000 manual staff hours per year, and $6.5 million per year in potential new imaging revenue.  These multi-dimensional results show how PCCI’s solutions improve both clinical outcomes and efficiency. They also illustrate the power of combining clinical insight with AI innovation to create measurable health gains.

PCCI’s innovations are also changing North Texas at the neighborhood level with our Community Vulnerability Compass, or CVC. The CVC is an industry-leading tool that visualizes the real-world challenges affecting health in each neighborhood. CVC reveals community and individual risk factors with high sensitivity – from food insecurity to lack of transportation, giving a clear, actionable view of the non-medical drivers of health. Learn more about the development of the CVC in PCCI’s recent publication in JAMIA, which highlights how the CVC elevates insights and expands upon the performance of existing tools that measure community socioeconomic variation.

This past year, CVC’s impact grew from local to regional: it became the cornerstone of a ground-breaking United Way initiative to help 200+ community organizations better target resources and produce data-driven success stories. Even public health departments, like Dallas County’s, are integrating CVC data to guide outreach in real time. CVC’s success is paving the way for nationwide adoption, as it offers healthcare providers and community leaders a powerful lens through which to better identify and understand vulnerabilities and focus interventions where they’re needed most. It’s a shining example of how PCCI’s innovation can create connected communities of care on a broad scale.

In the report you will also find that PCCI’s AI in medicine and medical care offers substantial results and is generating real impact. Because of the innovation and impact, we delivered regionally, PCCI’s vision is to expand this impact nationwide. PCCI isn’t just achieving outcomes in Dallas – it is shaping the future of healthcare AI. PCCI experts are contributing to national guidelines and best practices for ethical, equitable AI, ensuring that new innovations benefit everyone and earn public trust. PCCI also engages with national health AI committees and partnerships at the highest levels to share our learnings on responsible AI use.

Looking ahead, PCCI will continue to innovate and forge new collaborations to scale our successful solutions across the country. The goal: bring our proven “Dallas model” of AI-driven health improvement to individuals and communities everywhere, advancing health AI and building healthier, more resilient communities.
